Some 258 projects have been completed under the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West since its inception in 2020.

The information was revealed by Governor Adolphe Lele L’afrique of the North West who doubles as the president of the North West follow-up committee of the PPRD. This was during a meeting held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, during the 14th ordinary session of the North West Regional Assembly. The administrative boss also revealed that 38 other projects are underway while 2 others have been suspended.

The session was also attended by the president of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions, Paul Tasong. Minister Paul Tasong revealed the plan’s transformative new organic framework, which will subsequently include more than one implementing partner. Also, the inclusion of mayors in the Regional follow-up committee is one of the major changes in the plan, this is expected to improve the oversight an
d accountability of the projects

A major difficulty the project has faced over the past four years is raising funds. Of the FCFA 150 billion initially budgeted, only FCFA 50 billion was raised in the Region.

Road infrastructure projects like the Babadjou-Bamenda road, the Ring road, and the Bamenda urban crossing projects are still ongoing.
