Road Repair Brigade Undertakes Maintenance on Ouezzin Coulibaly Avenue

Ouagadougou: To improve traffic flow and preserve the sustainability of the road network, the General Directorate for Transport Infrastructure Maintenance (DGEIT) began repair work on Monday in Ouagadougou on the city’s degraded road surfaces. The brigade moved to Ouezzin Coulibaly Avenue, located on the axis from the police headquarters to the popular theater via Kaize. Potholes and other localized damage, which had become a real headache for users, made traffic difficult and increased the risk of accidents, reports the communications services of the ministry in charge of infrastructure.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Saflo Pacere, Director General of Transport Infrastructure Maintenance, accompanied by his close collaborators, praised the professionalism and commitment of the mobilized team. He recalled that the rapid processing of time-limited repairs is a strategic measure for preserving the national road heritage. “By intervening in time, we prevent minor damage from becoming major, costly repairs. These actions help maintain traffic flow and ensure user safety,” he said.

For his part, Sanoussa Belem, Director of Infrastructure Monitoring and Public Works, emphasized the importance of responsiveness and planning in road network maintenance: “The sustainability of our infrastructure depends on our ability to quickly detect and correct damage. This is the whole meaning of our mission.”

Local residents were quick to express their satisfaction. Celestin Ouedraogo, a local resident, welcomed the initiative: “These repairs will allow us to move around without fear and improve our comfort. We thank the ministry for this concrete action.”

According to the ministry, this operation is part of a comprehensive routine maintenance program initiated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Accessibility, through the DGEIT, to provide populations with safer, more passable, and more sustainable roads. Similar interventions are underway on other axes of the capital, confirming the vision of efficient and anticipatory management of transport infrastructure, it added.
