Wendy Shay donates to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on her birthday


Ghanaian songstress Wendy Shay has made a donation to the paediatric ward of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on the occasion of her 28th birthday.

The artiste, renowned for her chart-topping music and philanthropic endeavours, showed love to the paediatric ward through her Wendy Shay Foundation.

Items donated included baby cots, a radiant warmer, a paediatric bed, and a suctioning machine, among other items.

These vital resources, according to Wendy Shay’s team, would go a long way towards significantly improving the quality of care provided to newborns and children at the hospital.

Also, the ‘Survival’ hitmaker reiterated the mission of the Wendy Shay Foundation and stressed that they are focused on improving healthcare in the country and supporting those in need.

‘As an artist, I believe in using my influence to create positive change,’ she remarked. ‘Through the Wendy Shay Foundation, we aim to address pressing social issues and contribute to building a better future for all,’ Wendy stated.

The management
of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital extended their heartfelt gratitude to Wendy Shay and her foundation for their invaluable contribution.

Dr. Hope Glover Addy, Head of the Paediatric Surgery Unit, lauded the donation, emphasising its direct impact on patient care.

It would be noted that Wendy Shay’s philanthropic efforts extend beyond the healthcare sector.

Last year, during World Children’s Day, she made headlines for her donation of educational items through the Wendy Shay Foundation Educare Initiative.

The beneficiaries of this initiative were the students of Weija Primary 1 and 2, who received newly sewn school uniforms, bags, whiteboards, and various stationery items.

This year’s edition of London Fashion Week marks 40 years since it was first staged by the British Fashion Council, rising to become one of the

biggest catwalk fixtures in the world.

The award-winning Ghanaian musician showcased classic looks and demonstrated his runway prowess with a steady walk in his dazzling outfit.

Black Sherif was in an overall masculine jacket adorned with matching trousers, simple boots, and a leather bag.

His outfit was certainly outstanding among the various collaborations of Labrum Fashion, which takes inspiration from West African clothing lines combined with Western heritage.

‘Remembering’ – New dance theatre production goes live next Saturday


A new dance theatre production depicting the journey of enslaved Africans across the Atlantic Ocean would be staged at the National Theatre in Accra on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

The show, titled: ‘Remebering’, is a collaboration between the National Dance Company, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture, and Jamal Gaines creative outlet from the United States, and other amateur groups.

The production ‘explores the nature of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade to reflect long forgotten memories’.

It again tells the story of forced voyage of enslaved Africans to the ‘new world’, and highlights emancipation and black history.

‘Remebering, reflects on the slave feelings of melancholy and despair, elicits the horrors of the tightly packed men, women and children chained, …and the use of guns,’ a statement from the National Theatre read.

The story, according to the organisers, would be ‘presented through traditional and contemporary dance movements, demonstration and narrations, with drumm
ing and music to thrill audience to the powerful journey’.

The piece also celebrates cultural heritage, address challenges and honours ‘those who pave the way for a brighter future’.

It begins at 7pm next Saturday at a rate of GHS50.00 for adults and GHS30.00 for students.

Martha Ankomah sues LiL Win for defamation


Actress Martha Ankoma, Martha Ankomah, has sued her colleague actor Kwadwo Nkansah, aka Lil Win for defamation.

She is demanding, among other things, GhS5 million compensation and a restraining order, preventing Lil Win from publishing the damaging comments.

Lil Win’s rant followed indications that Martha was allegedly turning down requests from producers to feature in Kumawood movies.

Martha Ankomah had reportedly granted an interview on an Accra-based radio station, citing her disinterest in storylines related to witchcraft as a reason for not accepting roles in Kumawood movies.

Martha’s reponse somehow did not seat well with Lil Win, who subsequently responded with unsavory comments on social media.

In a writ of summons filed on February 14, 2024, Martha Ankomah claims that the statement made by Lil Win had caused harm to her reputation and the brands she represents.

She said Lil Win’s comment were false and meant to cause public disaffection for her in the creative industry.

She wants a retraction
and apology from LiL Win. The actor is yet to respond to the suit.

Sensational vocalist Kurl Songx says that most of his songs are spiritually inclined, as they are often revealed to him by God through dreams and meditations.

The music sensation recently released another love song titled ‘911,’ featuring Ko-jo Cue, which is making waves across various social media platforms.

According to the ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ hitmaker, his style of music has always been inspired by some kind of spirituality that often provides him with the content of every song.

‘I believe in the existence of supreme power, and most often I rely on the Supreme Being for my music content so as to get lyrics that are valuable and fans can connect easily.

Ghanaian Highlife star Kwame Kaakyire Fosu has dropped another groundbreaking Highlife special titled ‘Dat Girl Boatemaa’.

On the occasion of his 43rd birthday on February 14, KK Fosu has delivered another stunning Highlife rendition to music lovers on Valentine’s Day.

According to KK Fosu, the new song is just to reignite Highlife vibes and also celebrate love on this special Valentine’s Day.

‘Today is my birthday, and it is a special day for all lovers, so I thought it wise to release something special for them. Highlife is something I hold in high esteem, and we ought to reignite the love for it,’ KK Fosu said.

He also revealed that he plans to make a series of donations to the needy in society as part of the birthday celebrations.

Oriental Brothers, Kabaka’s new album ranks 50th on Apple Music 100 chart

Kabaka and His Oriental International Brothers’ new album, “Abialam”, has surged to the 50th position on Apple Music Top 100 chart worldwide less than 24 hours after its release.

Amarachi Anyanwu, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Derda Promotions, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.

“In a groundbreaking moment for African highlife music, after its release. this monumental achievement makes “Abialam” the first highlife music album from Africa to ever reach this global milestone.

“Abialam, which means “I have returned”, is an intricate tapestry of traditional rhythms and modern beats, capturing the essence of highlife music while resonating with a broad international audience.
