Nairobi: The continental meeting of Catholic Television Directors from Africa and Madagascar was recently held in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 24 to 28, 2025. This significant gathering saw the participation of German partners and the Vatican Dicastery for Communication, represented by Sr. Nina, a Communication Specialist. Pacis TV played a pivotal role, presenting its recent achievements, strategic projects, and avenues for continental and international collaboration. The channel also led several key segments of the meeting.
According to African Press Organization, the opening session was delivered by His Excellency Bishop Bernardine Mfumbusa on behalf of His Eminence Fridolin Cardinal Ambongo. Bishop Mfumbusa, who was recently appointed by the African bishops in Kigali to coordinate communication within the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), set the tone for the meeting. Countries such as Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya, Mali, Rwanda, Mozambique, Madagascar, Togo, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Germany, Argentina, Rome, and Austria were in attendance.
Throughout the meeting, key stakeholders, including the Dicastery for Communication, Bishop Mfumbusa, and the CRTN/ACN team, highlighted the Catholic Television Network Service for Africa Project. They emphasized the urgent need to train communication experts within dioceses, the importance of not competing with secular media, the mission to enlighten society through truth, and the necessity to collaborate with Catholic celebrities and influencers.
Three Rwandan priests studying at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa were granted special permission to attend Pacis TV's presentation. Fr. Patrice, Fr. Jean de Dieu, and Fr. Damien Kimenyi expressed keen interest in the vision and orientations shared, thereby reinforcing the link between academic formation and the Church's media mission.
SIGNIS International also provided an update on the upcoming Kigali International Meeting scheduled for August 2026. This future event aims to enhance the digital media presence of Catholic institutions, develop artificial intelligence tools and influencer databases, and address communication gaps in several episcopal conferences.
The exchanges among the African Catholic televisions revealed that Pacis TV is among the leading Catholic TV stations on the continent. This recognition was echoed by Mr. Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, CEO of APO Group, who praised the channel's growing visibility, operational professionalism, and strategic impact across Africa. Pacis TV is committed to contributing actively to a renewed vision of Catholic communication in Africa, rooted in truth, collaboration, and service to the common good.
